Design Joburg, featuring Rooms on View, is back for its third instalment at the Sandton Convention Centre from 24 to 26 May 2019. Here are five things to look forward to at this year’s show, presented by Sanlam Private Wealth.

1. Collaboration

Aptly named CoLabs, this sees renowned designers creating groundbreaking room sets featuring some of South Africa’s best artisans, brands and suppliers. This year, the line-up includes names such as Dylan Thomaz, Fanie van Zyl, Tuami Zulu, Nelson Kubheka, Julia Day and Wendy Douglas.

2. Local Design

The SPA ZAR and SA Furniture Collective features will showcase a range of local design talent. SPA ZAR, in conjunction with SA Tourism, will display a curated selection of over 30 items from local designers.

SA Furniture Collective, assisted by Tonic’s Greg Gamble and Philippe van der Merwe, will honour a handful of top local furniture designers, showcasing their latest creations. Designers include Sifiso Shange, James Mudge and Bofred. You can visit the Art and Retail Corridors for local shopping.

3. Global Design

If you’re looking for international trends, Design Joburg will be revealing a variety of local collections by top international designers, including Roche Bobois, Fabri, Cassina and Tom Dixon, with furniture, bathroom, kitchen and lighting collections. With a strong focus on Turkish design, Design Joburg will also be highlighting why Turkey is a design destination to watch in 2019.
