Australian designer Marc Newson’s Lockheed Lounge has set a new record as the world’s most expensive design object at an international auction.
The chaise longue, constructed from fibreglass and thin aluminium plates fetched £2 434 500 at the PHILLIPS auction house in London.
Newson’s prototype of the design set the bar as the ‘world’s most expensive design object by a living designer’ in 2010 after being sold by the same auctioneers for £1.4 million.
Do you believe it’s worthy of the price it fetched?
