In this short clip by Charlie Watts, artist and illustrator David Gee (a.k.a. Dave Draws) explains what makes him tick and how his doodles began as an unconscious past-time.

Once his friends took an interest in his black and white artworks he realised that he could take his hobby further.

Now the UK-based doodle extraordinaire is known for his intricate and busy maps of places such as Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool.

“I feel very lucky to do something I love for a living,” he explains. “It’s very humbling and it’s also very rewarding as well.”
