Despite baking temperatures in the Cape on Saturday 30 January, VISI readers managed to stay cool thanks to the refreshing sea breeze that flowed through the Strand penthouse apartment of Charl and Josene Groenewald.
Painted entirely in black to ensure the spectacular 270 degree views remain the hero of the space, this industrial-style penthouse is luxuriously spacious in its open plan layout. However, as readers discovered from Charl and Josene, it was a logistically difficult road to transform the penthouse shell they bought into the space it is today. Readers listened to tales of screed mixed in wheelie bins and how salvaged wood planks had to be lifted into the space by crane to create a dramatic dining table.
While on the tour, held in association with Saint-Gobain, Guests sipped on Graham Beck MCC and snacked on a delicious cheese spread before heading home with a bumper goodie bag, including two issues of VISI, the 2016 edition of the SA Decor & Design Guide and a bottle of Graham Beck MCC.
