VISI Great Spaces Tour: Kleinood

On a drizzly Saturday morning, we welcomed VISI readers to Kleinood in Stellenbosch for a VISI Great Spaces tour of the farm and winery.

Giving us a personal account of the long process involved in the renovation and restoration of the farm’s buildings and grounds, owner Gerard de Villiers started the farm tour at the dam wall for a tasting of the Tamboerskloof Rosé.

Readers were then taken to the olive grove and vegetable garden before heading down to the vineyards and the farm’s secret art installation area. With insightful anecdotes about both art and the vines, Gerard led the group on to the honey-making room where guests were each given a bag of poppy seeds from the farm to take home.

Heading back into the winery, readers tasted the Tamboerskloof Viognier beside the oak barrels before moving into the tasting room to try the Tamboerskloof Syrah and a sampling of De Boerin Extra Virgin Olive Oil by the fire.

Guests took home the two latest issues of VISI, as well as a bottle of De Boerin Olive Oil and a sweet sheep brooch (representing the farm’s emblem).
