There’s a new addition to Melville’s bustling 7th Street. The Stuff We Love houses retro and vintage finds for fashion lovers looking for a shopping experience laced with nostalgia and history.

Owners Gwynne Conlyn and Susan Russell realised the need for more vintage stores that offer good quality fashion in Joburg. Curated clothing and fun one-off pieces are the store’s speciality.

“Increasingly, the concept of vintage and ‘previously-loved’ clothing stores has moved into the mainstream, particularly in Europe, where it has become a complete passion,” explains Susan. “Recycling vintage clothing, especially the more modern, designer labels is a global phenomenon that has also taken root in South Africa and is fuelled to some extent by people becoming more aware of the huge social and environmental cost of disposable fashion and the waste it creates.”
