WORDS Lilly Quin
Artisanal crafts and accessories retailer The Storer has taken the virtual plunge with a new online retail space. This allows clients worldwide to access a selection of authentic products, without losing out on The Storer shopping experience.
“I feel online shopping is, of course, about convenience – yet sadly, it’s natural that one feels disconnected,” says founder Lisa Storer. “That’s why it’s very important to me that shoppers entering The Storer online feel an actual sense of connection.”
The Storer online features a core range of products, from throw pillows to earrings. Each piece is consciously sourced from traditional crafters in Morocco, Turkey, Cambodia and Mexico.
“We believe in embracing the ‘slow-life’ and living more mindfully, supporting sustainable crafters and their time-honoured traditions within the eco-community around the world – and bringing these delightful pieces to South Africa.”
The Storer is big on community and aspires to celebrate each culture that has served as an inspiration.
Lisa and her buying team have shared their stories on the website, detailing their experiences of mindful sourcing. “It is our way of celebrating the crafters, to connect their stories and countries with ours.”
We love the Turkish-sourced Pom-pom sandals, the production of which forms part of an upliftment project aimed at empowering female artisans by prioritising mothers who work from home while home-schooling their children.
