Sweet spot

Soet Emporium, a coffee shop-cum-bakery, boutique and interior design studio, owned by Leigh Leonard and Zillah Brits brings a new fashion statement to the corner of Durbanville’s Oxford Street and Wellington Road.

The Emporium, which is made up of Soet Bistro, Soet Café Bakery, Güzel Interiors and Zillah Pret-a-Porter incorporates Leigh and Zillah’s passion for coffee, food, fashion and decor. The carefully considered detail that went into combining these different elements ensures that they complement each other while offering a complete lifestyle solution that celebrates the owners’ creativity.

For the design part of the business, Leigh’s background in textile design and her eye for style puts her in a unique position to provide high-end interior design solutions, supplying every need from lighting through to material and decor. Zillah, on the other hand, designs and manufactures fashion for the trendy professional set who frequent the emporium.

The food however, is the star of the business. They describe the menu as “creative but casual”. A truely original item on the menu, which you simply must try, is their fouda cheese. This quirky treat falls somewhere between gouda and feta is made by Zillah’s father on his Garden Route farm for exclusive retail at Soet Bistro.

The Bistro itself also boasts it’s own barista and baker, making it the perfect place to start the day for coffee, freshly baked artisan bread and heavenly temptations like their baked lilac cheesecake. Aside from their over-the-counter service, the Bistro also offers a catering service, along with the space and fully licensed bar to host exciting events in style.
