Striking Sculptures: Form of Wander

Marc Fornes of art and architecture practice THEVERYMANY studio is behind the design of Form Of Wander, a striking sculpture situated above the Hillsborough River pier in Tampa, Florida.

This aluminium artwork features different shades of green, chosen specifically with the changing sun in mind. The structure, which mirrors the growth of indigenous mangroves, with seven thick trunks and twisting branches and roots, aims to promote interaction.

“Form of Wander is an experiential device as much as it is a signal on the horizon,” states the studio on its website. “From within its boughs, the structure performs as a framing device for the surrounding landscape, both heightening the scenery and providing new visual access to it.”

The piece was built to withstand hurricane force winds and remained standing after an encounter with Hurricane Michael in October 2018.
