Street Art We Love: A Multi-coloured Mural By HENSE

WORDS Mary Garner

Internationally renowned public artist Alex Brewer, known as HENSE, has utilised his graffiti skills to liven up an industrial complex in a Maryland town in the US.

Hagerstown in Maryland, an old historic area situated in the western parts of the city, is undergoing a cultural revival. Apart from the impressive HENSE mural, other works of public art have been popping up throughout the community’s spaces.

Both established and aspiring New York artists have been taking up the task of beautifying the urban landscape. The goal is to turn Hagerstown into an art destination.

HENSE’s dazzling mega mural, entitled Building Blocks, which is more than 24-metres high, made use of 643 litres of paint across four buildings, breathing relevance into an otherwise forgotten piece of architecture.
