A new range of scented candles brings the fragrances of the Cape to your home.
The beautiful Cape Dutch homestead Stellenberg in Kenilworth is renowned for its gardens. The owners, Sandy and Andrew Ovenstone, whose family have lived here since the early 1950s, have cultivated 16 distinct gardens on the estate, each with a different mood. Inspired by the heady fragrances emitted by the plants, Malu Ovenstone, Andrew and Sandy’s daughter, and her partner Roberto Cristobal have developed a range of scented candles so visitors can take something of these sensory pleasures home with them. At present there are three EcoSoya soya wax candles in the range costing R480 each.
Stellenberg No I combines fynbos and ylang-ylang to capture the fragrance of Stellenberg’s Wild Garden on a spring evening; Stellenberg No II combines rose geranium, African wormwood and lavender, evoking the Herb Garden on a summer evening; and Stellenberg No III has notes of rose geranium and herbaceous hints that capture the tranquility of the Aromatic Garden on a summer day.
