SALON/locale

In need of inspiration? Then be sure to participate in SALON/locale, an Amsterdam-based initiative that’s coming to Cape Town from 19 to 26 February 2011.

This 100% local South African event maintains the theme of previous SALON/ events. As before, it aims to showcase fashion, art, design and photography in unexpected locations around the city.

SALON/locale will demonstrate how fashion transcends borders and cultures by showing how the above-mentioned disciplines are in fact an attitude that’s not defined by a generation or a certain style.

Contributors include David Tlale, Athi-Patra Ruga, Stoned Cherrie, Stiaan Louw, Paul Senyol, Mamela Nyamza, Clive Rundle, Gazelle, Porky Heffer, Petro Steyn, David West, Hey CJ Parker, Stefania Morland, Marchand, Paul Ward, Love and Hate Studio, Gavin Furlonger, Chris Saunders, Darkie and Black Coffee.

These designers will be showcasing their work in interesting locations around the city, including the Koopmans de Wet House, the 15 on Orange Hotel, the Am I Collective Garage, the Slave Church, the Dokter & Misses store in Long Street, the Daddy Long Legs Art Hotel and Bertram House.

Each ticket costs R100 and serves as a passport to SALON/locale: pay only once and gain unlimited access to all the locations during the course of the event. Venues will be open from 10h00 – 17h00 daily.
