Anura Vineyards, a wine farm in the Cape Winelands, recently unveiled an events venue designed by leading South African agency, Inhouse Brand Architects, who were also responsible for Wagon Trail, the farms’ contemporary restaurant and brewery.

Set in idyllic surrounds between Paarl and Stellenbosch, the venue is designed to host a wide range of functions including weddings, launches and conferences. Inhouse’s creative director Aidan Hart and senior designer Brenda Hart opted for a neutral backdrop, making the venue inclusive for a variety of functions. To complement the space’s warm wooden hues, light-colour porcelain tiles were used for the floor at the main venue, which also features floor-to-ceiling glass windows, treating guests to a view of the farm’s picturesque outdoor vistas.

In celebration of wine farming heritage, adjoined to the main venue is the Cooper’s Bar. Paying tribute to barrel-making, refurbished barrels hang from the bar’s ceiling and wooden panels imitating deconstructed wine barrels were used to clad the bar. Metal hoop lights are suspended overhead and a solid piece of Oregon pine forms the bar counter.

From lighting by industrial designer Ryan Matchett to the bathroom’s pendant lights and taps, as well as angle mirrors, no detail is left to chance in creating a thoroughly contemporary venue that lives in harmony with its more traditional and natural surroundings.
