WORDS Amelia Brown
Mexican designer Moisés Hernández’s Immersed Birds creations are colourful, graceful works of art.
Mexican-born and -based designer Moisés Hernández’s work has captured the spirit of native tropical birds in minimal, dip-dyed wooden sculptures.
“One of the main characteristics of birds are the incredibly saturated colours of their feathers,” Moisés says of this project, entitled Immersed Birds. “Toucan, hummingbird and Mexican quetzal were chosen because of their glowing chromatic range.”
The transparent, layered effect is created by dipping the wooden birds in coloured water. Due to the experimental technique, no two birds are the same.
