If we were bank robbers we would forego stealing jewels and cash in favour of the safe it’s stashed in (provided the safe was designed by Boca Do Lobo).

This unashamedly ostentatious safe (aptly dubbed ‘Millionaire’) is made from mahogany, coated in highly polished bronze and then dipped in gold. It has lockable drawers to keep valuables safe.

Boco Do Loba says the limited edition piece “takes us to scenes strongly creased in our memory, deeply enriched by today’s visual culture”. They are of course referring to the bank robberies that were made famous at the start of the 19th century as a consequence of the gold rush in 1849.

They envision ‘Millionaire’ as the archetypal safe that withstood numerous break-in attempts, and through these attempts remains dented and deformed forever.
