Matthew Stone’s Digital Artworks

WORDS Michaela Stehr

London-based artist Matthew Stone creates surrealist figures through a combination of digital manipulation and painting.

His abstract pieces embody a dream-like quality, pushing the boundaries of form and the human body.

Fear of Not Being Needed

Matthew begins by painting a variety of brushstrokes, which he then photographs and moulds around digital figures on a computer. Once this is complete, he prints the images onto raw linen.

He is also a photographer and performance artist, as well as a painter and sculptor, and has held many critically acclaimed solo and group shows around the globe.
