Two young Cape Town entrepreneurs have opened a shoe store that combines Mediterranean and African flair.
These trendy shoes are the brainchild of South African Rizqah Isaacs and Spaniard Patricia Terre, who founded their brand Espadril just more than a year ago. The shoes are made by hand using a traditional Spanish method and are enhanced with African accents. They feature beautiful fabrics and patterns. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, the team at 100 Bree Street will customise the shoes to your specifications, using your choice of fabrics, colours and even sole thickness.
“We pride ourselves on having created a line where a woman can come to buy a denim pair for herself and leave with a beautiful camel pair from the Mediterranean collection for her mom and orange suede sliders for her grandmother,” says Patricia. “Our shoes can really be worn by anyone.”
The collaboration between Espadril and local high-end accessory brand Pichulik also sees an addition of four limited-edition styles in four colourways, with hand-sewn embellishments.
Prices range between R600 and R1 350. Visit espadril.co.za for more details.
