Slick and sexy laptop bags are a must-have for design geeks. Look out for The Wren’s PPC Cement Laptop Bag Photographic Collection – you’ll no doubt create a stir when you pull it out in public.

We love the fact that the laptop bags and packaging are equally covetable. Designer Wendren Milford, a.k.a. The Wren, notes that the packaging was a creative solution to various problems: “A lot of information about the bag needed to be conveyed to the buyer, for example how the bag is made, what the properties are and what PPC is. To use the packaging as the label or tag became the answer.”

On one side of the gift bag there’s a vertical storyboard that illustrates how the laptop bag is made; on the other side, in connecting type, are the principles and properties of the bag. “The product is packaging and the packaging is the tag,” Wendren says.

By using cement packaging as the laptop bag (the product), she used imagery from the iconic PPC Cement Bag to package the laptop bag, thus conveying to consumers the design and thought processes behind the product.

Photographing the items was another creative challenge: “The concept of the photo shoot (gallery above) is to question the limits of our mind and eyes by playing with 2D and 3D interactions,” Wendren says. “This ties back to the PPC Cement Laptop Bag, because it’s made out of cement packaging, which is essentially just craft paper – a material you’d never associate with the strength and durability needed for a laptop bag.”
