WORDS Mary Garner
Krista Decor is a Russian artist who makes tulle embroidery art that appears to float in mid-air.
The delicate fabric is ideal in the creation of this embroidery thanks to its lightweight quality, which makes it fine enough to appear transparent and suspended in motion.
Krista, who is inspired by nature, in particular flowers and animals, mastered the technique of haute couture embroidery while completing an internship at Russian fashion house V. Yudashkin.
“When creating the decor, I use flat and voluminous embroidery, which requires such materials as woollen yarn and cotton thread, beads, pearls, natural stones, gimp, embroidery with straw, and silk ribbon. When combining these materials, a new design is born.”
