Kitty and Dude, the brainchild of South African-born ceramicist Cosima Sempill, is coming to the new Intoto Gallery in Johannesburg.
The ceramics feature everything from floral, embossed swallows to grenade-shaped salt and pepper shakers. Fast becoming the go-to brand for quirky gifts and objets in Edinburgh, Kitty and Dude is growing and ready for the South African market.
The collection was first launched at Tent London during London Design Week 2010, and Cosima’s work was tipped as “one of the names to look out for” in the London Design Show Guide.
Based in Edinburgh at the Coburg House Studios, Cosima created Kitty and Dude after graduating from Glasgow School of Art. Her work unconsciously ignites feelings of nostalgia and sentimentality.
“I’m delighted to be exhibiting in Johannesburg and can’t wait to showcase my new body of work,” says Cosima. “My new collection will feature a range of vessels based on the forms of bird boxes. Colourful ceramic birds will be residing within and on top of each box.”
