We really love the simple yet clever concept for the Green Lamp by Polish designer Zuzanna Malinowska, a graduate of the Faculty of Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
The base of the lamp is a plant pot, and the shade is made of a plant sprouting over an openwork grid. Lamplight sifting between the plant’s leaves produces lighting effects resembling the sun beams shining through the leaves. As a result, the interior in which the lamp is placed is filled with play of light and shadow that changes depending on the shape and height of the plant. The metal lamp is simple and industrial, contrasting beautifully with the organic form of the plant.
