Visitors to the design enclave of Islington may already have had the pleasure of popping into Folklore, an independent store curating mindful design for home and life. Thankfully you don’t have to embark on a voyage to London to peruse and purchase their exquisite selection of designer items. Having recently launched their online store, Folklore will deliver straight to your door no matter where in the world you happen to be.
Set up by Danielle Reid and her husband Rob, the store is grounded in a simple ethos that better living is possible through design. Folklore stocks an edited selection of homeware, furniture, lighting, art and lifestyle goods that are created with care and made to last. Some are handmade, antique or made from recycled or found materials. Others are easily recyclable at the end of their life. All are made in an environmentally mindful way.
Says Danielle: “We seek out brilliant designers and makers. Craftsmanship, quality and durability are very important to us. We source authentic, enduring goods that have purpose and will hopefully be loved, treasured and kept.”
Folklore has collaborated on exclusive furniture pieces with a number of leading designers including Soren Rose Studio in Copenhagen and Hendzel+Hunt in London. A range of Folklore cushions is also available – made in conjunction with the artist David Shillinglaw and East London’s Working Well Trust charity.
