Floral fun

At VISI we wholly advocate a little floral, and we could’t think of a better way to spruce-up a dull corner or wall than with a unique, timeless piece of furniture.

Here’s the perfect opportunity to combine the spirit of spring with a new piece of French-style furniture. For more than a century, Grange cabinet-makers have created furniture that blends classical and contemporary lines in hand-finished statement pieces. Buyers can customise their pieces from a choice of 80 available finishes. We think this floral cabinet (R56 800) is the perfect way to revive your home after a long, cold winter.

The new fabrics from Designers Guild may be inspired by the work of late 19th-century artists but they have a distinctly modern feel thanks to cutting-edge technology.

The new Pavonia Collection from UK fabric house Designers Guild takes its inspiration from the bohemian artists and avant-garde designers of the late 19th-century Aesthetic Movement. The pursuit of beauty was a central theme to this movement, so in its modern interpretation we see vivid colour explored in large and almost photorealistic florals. It’s a realism that’s been achieved through the latest advances in digital printing, which allows for the reproduction of the finest possible details. Traditional fabric printing is limited by the number of screens that can be used, which means that more intricate images often have to be simplified. But new technology has opened the door to unlimited colour, bringing a new brilliance to fabrics. Designers Guild have put this technology to good use with a palette that is wide and varied. The colours are bold – violet, azure, cobalt and fuchsia feature prominently – and give a new depth and dimension to the ubiquitous spring floral.
