Fibre Artist Dani Ives’s Wool Paintings

Animal lover Dani Ives is the founder of Etsy store Good Natured Art based in Northwest Arkansas.

Dani has developed her own definitive style, which she calls “painting with wool”. Self-taught, she uses fibre and a process known as needle felting to create her fascinating artworks that are inspired by her love of science and nature.

Instead of a brush and paint, she creates the effect of layering colour with wool fibers and a felting needle. She adds texture and depth this way and produces intricate animal portraits and botanical pieces with point-specific details and realism.

The artist shares her knowledge and skills through workshops across the United States and all over the world. She also runs a six-week course at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
