Everyone’s talking about…

Italian furniture brand Driade has always been synonymous with vanguard design and their latest offering has the international design world in a flurry of awe. The 36 h and 56 h chairs by Fabio Novembre are an artful expression of functional design.

Both the chairs are aluminium structures covered in woven plastic, the 36 h easy chair has two versions while the 56 h rocking chair has three. Fabio says he was inspired by folktales of Pik Badaluk defeating a lion, the chairs he says are a homage to the victors throne.

It is unsurprising that these chairs – quite unlike anything before them – were designed by Fabio Novembre, as he himself is anything but ordinary. With a unique outlook on life Fabio’s experiences and zest for life inspire his work. “My lungs are imbued with the scent of places that I’ve breathed, and when I hyperventilate it’s only so I can remain in apnea for awhile.”

“As though I were pollen, I let myself go with the wind, convinced I’m able to seduce everything that surrounds me,” he says. “I want to breathe till I choke. I want to love till I die.”

His passion for life and creativity is certainly evident in these words, but more so in his designs.
