Eiko Ojala’s Paper Cut-Outs

Eiko Ojala is an award-winning Estonian illustrator and graphic designer, known for his brilliant 3D paper cut-outs.

His colourful paper cut-out illustrations use real and simulated shadows, paper textures and digital illustrations, all of which have a powerful storytelling quality that pops out at you, thanks to the use of carefully selected colours layered on top of each other.

Eiko, who is interested in how forms and shapes work with light and shadow, often opts to work digitally, with minimalist sketching completed by hand.
