TUMI, the leading international travel, business and lifestyle accessories brand has teamed up with award-winning designer Dror Benshetrit to create a new eleven-piece collection.
The brand’s first ever collaboration with an external designer, Dror and TUMI spent 18 months conducting extensive research and prototyping in order to push the boundaries of engineering and manufacturing further than ever before.
The collection incorporates features that can adapt for multiple uses: such as the International Carry-On, which has four different size options or the Briefcase, that doubles as a laptop case.
Working with textile designers, Dror and TUMI created a new weave for the signature TUMI fabric, lending it a more modern and organic feel. But what makes the collection particularly stand-out is the faceted panel applied both as a pattern element and to increase strength. The designs are sure to speak to long-time TUMI devotees, as well as to a younger, savvy market.
Based in New York, Benshetrit has a vast portfolio of work encompassing product design, architectural projects, interior design and creative direction. As a highly revered designer with worldwide exposure, he is the perfect match for a brand with such a strong heritage of design excellence.
The line will launch at Milan’s Salone del Mobile in April, in collaboration with Jules Wright who has created a special commission called Passaggio to mark the occasion.
