Drift scoops Eat In award

The Drift organic farm near Napier in the Overberg took home the Eat In Awards Small Produce Award: Earth, at the Eat In awards ceremony at the Old Biscuit Mill this week.

This small family farm produces vegetables, herbs, grapes and olives according to bio-dynamic and organic principles, but its great passion is to grow rare natural heirloom vegetables such as candy-striped beets and finger-shaped aubergines.

“It’s so gratifying to receive this award after all our hard work and the persistent passion shown by our team,” said The Drift sales and marketing manager Jason Snell.

“Sometimes you work with nature, sometimes it works against you, but we’re always committed to this great goal and vision: to produce food that’s both healthy for our children to eat and produced in a way that’s sustainable for the planet.”

Local food gurus Justine Drake, Pete Goffe-Wood, Michelle Barry and Anna Trapido judged this year’s finalists.
