Architect Gregory Catz collaborated with jewellery designers Philippa Green and Ida Elsje for a striking range of diamond jewellery that combines the brilliant-cut gems with precious metals and high-tech polymer resin.
From the Latin “in situ” (set in place), the Situ range of engagement, wedding and fashion rings showcases sleek, modern and innovative design, with sparkling diamonds encased in clear epoxy resin. Optical effects, such as colouration and magnification, are intensified, while the epoxy setting gives the impression of a stone that floats as if magically suspended.
Set below the surface of the resin, the virtually indestructible diamond can only be removed from the setting by dissolving the polymer in acids. What’s more, resin does not scratch as quickly as metal but when tarnished, can be polished back to its original brilliance.
Combining the precision, craftsmanship and creativity of successful South African jewellery designers, Ida Elsje and Philippa Green, with the experimental, form-giving spirit of architect Gregory Katz, the Situ range can be customised with your choice of unique colours from the extensive range available at the Olive Green Cat studio and shop in Cape Town.
