Local brand OkayAfrica has collaborated with South African artist and designer Daniel Ting Chong on a line of clothing inspired by African national flags.
The bold and multicoloured range consists of a crewneck sweater, graphic T-shirts, a tote bad and a head scarf.
A variety of African flags were used to create one unanimous African identity that aims to connect people across the continent.
“National flags are often used as a beacon of hope, and a symbol of what a country stands for,” explains Daniel. “A flag as a visual representation of its people –and to distinguish it from other nations. By having the same flag, Africa can have a common symbol to bring us closer together – at home or abroad.”
The collection is available exclusively at OkayAfrica’s pop-up space at 70 Juta Street, Braamfontein, Joburg until 8 October 2016.
