SHORTRUN is a new collaborative project that aims to make local art more accessible to young collectors.

The project, which is the latest venture from Between 10and5, brings contemporary South African art into everyday life through a range of wearable merchandise.

Taking inspiration from international gallery and museum gift shops, SHORTRUN has collaborated with local artists to showcase their talent on an assortment of products. The first run displays the works of Ana Pather, Io Makandal and Nico Krijno on items such as tote bags and T-shirts. There is also a range of custom-made hats by talented milliners Simon and Mary.

The designs have been created to catch the eye through print methods such as dye sublimation and screen printing.

“As the creators we just feel that there aren’t enough accessible ways to own and embrace art among the younger community,” says Between 10and5 Creative Director Lee-Ann Orton, who co-founded Shortrun with Founder and MD Uno de Waal. “By taking an almost POP approach to printing the works onto products, we are making it easier to collect.”

Each SHORTRUN design is limited to only 10 editions, making these pieces the ultimate collector’s item for fashion and art lovers alike.
