Colourful Wall Hangings by Jujujust

WORDS Mary Garner

Based in North Carolina, Spanish textile artist Judit Just Anteló creates colourful, plush wall hangings under her brand, Jujujust.

With a background in sculpture and fashion design, Judit’s mother initially taught her how to weave while she was growing up.

Her brightly coloured wall pieces are made using traditional techniques, namely a rye knot method on a lap loom or eight-harness table loom.

“Most of my tapestries are just an involuntary result of an improvisation, a dance with colours and materials,” Judit told Colossal. “I like to let myself flow and see what it transforms into afterwards. Once I finish and approve one design, I keep the original in my studio to reproduce it in different colour variations. Then I redo them and make them evolve and metamorphose into other creations.”

You can browse and buy Judit’s wall hangings on Etsy. Follow her on Instagram to keep up to date.
