It’s too late to order this year’s The ‘Cats Let Nothing Darken Their Roar’ calendar but we strongly suggest you’re on the list to order 2013’s.
This kooky example of modern typography uses fun phrases to cleverly pronounce each month of the year. Conceptualised, written, designed and dated by Noa Bembibre the calendars are a covetable item around the globe.
The ‘Cats Let Nothing Darken Their Roar’ calendar started in Finland in January 2006 with a print run of 30 modest copies. It then went to over a million copies in 2007, in a special edition for Finland’s daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. Today the popular calendar has been whittled down to a limited edition print run of 700 copies, which sold out well before the first week of the year had come to an end.
The A3 calendar is printed in four colours on uncoated stock and finished with a distinct signature black ribbon binding, which in itself involves a seven step manual process.
The calendar is shipped off from Finland to the rest of the world; make sure you’re on the list now to avoid disappointment next year.
