Imagine being able to take your city everywhere you go. Cape Town’s favourite paper artist, Keri Muller, makes it possible with her adorable new Cape Town in a Box creation.
Cut from sheets of cardboard, in a rainbow of colours, the miniature dioramas create a cute and quirky three-dimensional view of Keri’s Cape Town.
Each of the little models is laser-cut and Keri has plans to create a Joburg in a Box and other designs soon.
Even more exciting is that the miniature dioramas will soon be launched in a flat-pack Perspex version, which will ensure that the miniature cities have a longer lifespan than their paper counterparts.
Keri jokes that were there any such thing as design karma hell, she may be headed there for these creations, as she was inspired to make them after seeing something similar. But somehow we don’t think so. With her quirky edge and creative eye she has most certainly created something quite unique that will make an excellent gift or addition to the home for Mother City loyalists.
The Cape Town in a Box diorama in paper retails for R120 and is available from various stores that stock some of Keri’s other creations. These include Imagenius, Quirky me, Marigolds, The Fringe Arts and Kalk Bay Modern.
