Calm oasis

Designer Balu Nivison has launched a new inspirational lifestyle space in Claremont, with interior design by Kate Moffat.

With an emphasis on a space of calm amid the Cavendish bustle, the space combines clothing by Balu and her son Benjamin, ethically sourced decor products, and a cafe. 

Kate was briefed to create a “shopping temple” that evoked all of the senses while including some of the furniture Balu had inherited from her parents. Including a striking eagle mirror and a hanging pendant light, these pieces have become centrepieces in the downplayed interior. A coronet that used to sit above her mother’s bed was used to cleverly the boudoir-like changing room in the corner of the shop.

The cafe gives the space warmth and a sense of life. With a laidback attitude, patrons are invited to relax while feasting on the predominately vegetarian food.
