Buitenkant Street’s Colourful Window Display

Event management company Sorrento Events recently commissioned Polish-born, SA-based artist Andrzej Urbanski and visual artist Pierre le Riche to create an eye-catching new window display for their offices on Cape Town’s Buitenkant Street.

Instead of displaying product or services, Sorrento founder Francois van Tonder decided on an installation instead, something we saw recently with the Ross Symons and adidas AREA3 collaboration in Braamfontein. “I feel very privileged to live and work in Cape Town and I wanted to celebrate our artists and our community. I am also a huge fan of contemporary art and Andrzej and Pierre are definitely the next big names,” explains Francois.

Managed by artist Candice Ježek, the project makes use of 42 different paint hues and 10 different colours of string.
