COMPILED BY Gina Dionisio

At VISI, we love beautifully designed candles – they make ideal gifts, add ambience to a room, and can elevate any table setting. Here, we’ve listed seven local options that have caught our eye.

Monya Eastman, from interior design studio Stokperd, has just launched a delectable trio of luxury scented candles – Motreën, Hanyauku and Komorebi.

Motreën, was inspired by soft drizzle and contains delicate, relaxing notes of neroli and lavender. The combination of heady orange blossom and bergamot in Hanyauku will invigorate the senses while Komorebi’s notes of grapefruit and rose geranium will “level you onto a plateau of calm”.

All three candles are made from soy wax and the finest essential oils, with a 50 hour burn time. They come packaged in re-usable amber glass vessels with black metal lids to preserve fragrance and protect the candles from dust.

House of Gozdawa

House of Gozdawa has been creating heavenly scented perfumes and more since 2015, so it comes as no surprise that ‘Some Serious Juju’ is one of the best-smelling candles we’ve ever burned.

Notes of Madagascan basil, lemon bush fynbos, and eucalyptus globulus will transport you to an alternate reality.

The brand’s candles are made by hand using a blend of natural waxes and essential oils making each piece one-of-a-kind. The reusable, handmade fine grade black porcelain vessels are finished with a crest stain lightly applied and worked into the ceramic to give each one a unique finish, too.

Scents can connect us to a time and place, and Rialhem have done just that with The Farmhouse Collection. Each scent speaks of their childhood olfactory memories growing up on a farm represents a specific room in a farmhouse – the Pool Room, The Attic, The Library and of course The Pantry.

We love The Library in with its rich mix of leather, pepper, musk and sandalwood.
