To celebrate the opening of Everard Read’s new CIRCA Cape Town gallery, acclaimed South African artist Beezy Bailey has created a vibrant and extensive body of work.
Entitled 1000 Year Dance Cure, the collection of work includes painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and a performance in collaboration with Sibonakoliso Ndaba, Brian Eno and the Indoni Dance Group.
The concept for the show was inspired by a poem Beezy wrote during a stay in London. The poem tells the story of the 1000 year dance being a cure for all of the world’s faults and brutalities, including racism, negligence and the destruction of our planet.
Overlooking Table Bay and the V&A Waterfront, the new exhibition space is housed in a 600 square metre Victorian Heritage building.
The exhibition runs until 14 December 2016. CIRCA Cape Town is situated at 3 Portswood Road, Cape Town. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 9am – 6pm and Saturdays from 9am – 1pm.
