Beautiful Embroidery: Times New Romance

Malaysian-born artist and model Sheena Liam is behind the creation of Times New Romance, a beautiful series of embroidered artworks.

At a young age, Sheena learned the basics of embroidery from her mother and began revisiting the hobby in her spare time.

She started by using self-portraits as a reference for her designs. Her pieces often feature hair flowing off the frame, giving each work a three-dimensional, sculptural feel. She uses either black or dark-green thread on off-white fabric, keeping a strong and simple contrast between the subject matter and the background.
