INTERVIEWED BY Lindi Brownell Meiring
Paris-based artist and animator Lorraine Sorlet caught our attention this week with her simple, emotive illustrations on Instagram. We caught up with her to find out more about her work, inspirations and what’s coming up next.
When did you start illustrating?
I started illustrating a long time ago when I was a little girl. It’s been my actual job for almost two years now. It was a real child’s dream come true.
What do you love most about animation?
I love animation because I like to imagine and to see my illustrations in motion. It’s also another way to create and tell stories, opening up the field of creation.
Who / what inspires your work?
I’m inspired by a lot of things, but mostly by my daily life in Paris. I love the diversity of the people on the street, the clothes, colours and atmosphere. I’m also very inspired by relationships in general. I love to know and understand both good and bad love stories and meet lovers randomly on the street.
If you could describe your work in a tweet, what would you say?
My work is all about love, colours and tenderness.
What are your plans for 2018?
I plan to print some other illustrations for my online shop, as I want to grow this part of my work. I also plan to work on a graphic novel, but this is still a secret for now!
