Ardmore is a South African ceramic and textile studio, recognised worldwide for its masterful techniques, dynamic designs, and evocative storytelling. It was founded by Fee Halsted in 1985, and has achieved global prominence, elevating the artistry of its creators while fostering community development and protecting regional cultural traditions.
The collection draws on the hoopoe bird’s rich symbolism of healing, wisdom, and guidance, honouring both Punch’s preservation and fundamental role in shaping Ardmore’s visual narrative. The Hoopoe Hop design captures rhythmic movement through crested hoopoes that spring and bow in repetitive patterns, their fan-striped wings and curved beaks echoed in delicate borders and feather motifs.
Created from 100% luxurious Italian silk with hand-rolled hems, each scarf features double printing to guarantee effortless reversibility without show-through. The 90 x 90 cm scarves arrive in nuanced palettes of Chalk, Rust, and Safari, while complementary slim silk twills in Stone, Rust, and Emerald serve as versatile accessories.
“Punch’s eye for pattern and story has helped shape who we are,” reflects Ardmore founder Fée Halsted. “Hoopoe Hop celebrates the poetry of movement and the courage of one of Ardmore’s earliest talents. These scarves honour her artistry and the hoopoe’s message of hope and renewal.”
The Hoopoe Hop collection is available in limited quantities from Ardmore online and at Ardmore stores nationwide. ardmore-design.com | @ardmore
