Airloom rugs

After becoming frustrated with the lack of affordable, quality rugs on the market, a husband and wife decided to start producing their own. Launched at Decorex Cape Town earlier this year, Airloom is now available from stores around the country.

The couple initially worked with a designer who helped bring their vision to life. The range, which takes inspiration as much from daily outings to places like Kirstenbosch as from local and international design trends, is produced in South Africa at the foothills of the Drakensberg.

The range of designs is varied, but nature is clearly a strong source of inspiration. Indigenous floral designs in neutral and muted colours adorn many of the rugs, whilst the rest are tastefully woven with simple geometric patterns – all with an 80% wool blend.

The couple behind Airloom have managed to achieve exactly what they set out to do – create beautiful, locally designed and produced rugs, with a reasonable price tag. In addition, they are the exclusive distributors for Dutch rugs by Brink & Campman.
