Artists We Love: Warren Lewis

INTERVIEWED BY Michaela Stehr

Ahead of our exciting giveaway on Tuesday 27 January 2015, VISI chatted to the talented South African born, London-based artist, Warren Lewis about what inspires him.

How did you get involved in art?

My dad was a carpenter and my mom was a busy woman. I started making things at a really young age to keep myself occupied. That’s where it started.

What mediums do you use?

I’m drawn to the most common, inexpensive mediums – PVC house paint, corrugated cardboard, glitter, koki pens, cotton… things that most professional artists stay clear of.

Where do you draw inspiration from? Are there any strong influences in your work?

Everyday stuff. Internet, books, films, documentaries, people, advertising, brands… My strongest influences are probably the characters in whichever book I am currently reading.

Where can people view your work?

You can check out @LikeLewis on Instagram or go to my ancient website, likelewis.com.

On Tuesday, 27th January 2015, one lucky VISI reader will win an original Warren Lewis painting via the VISI Facebook page. Good luck!
