A new exhibition called interiors/binneruimtes by acclaimed Johannesburg felt artist Ronél Jordaan and painter Willemien de Villiers opened this weekend in Melville.
The collaboration is centred around the artists’ common inspiration: nature.
Ronél’s felt artworks are produced out of the finest-quality South African merino wool, which she fashions into pods, nests, rocks and riverscapes – all of which are as functional as they’re beautiful. Willemien’s paintings and ceramics are rich in organic patterns and motifs. She draws inspiration from the natural environment and the behaviour of plants and insects, fusing botanical, zoological and human forms in her artworks.
Together, the works form a landscape of the interior – a tactile cocoon in which you can explore life, nature and your own inner being.
The exhibition is presented by Entropy and is being held at Upstairs @ Bamboo in the Bamboo Centre, Melville, from 18 – 25 June.
