Think twice before throwing away packaging because VISI is zooming in on brand-new ways to reuse it. We start by transforming a white plastic chair, bought for only R70, into a designer item.
What you’ll need:
• Self-adhesive Velcro, available from hardware stores.
• Foam rubber panels from electronics packaging. (The panels we used came with the new Apple Macbook Air.)
How to do it:
Stick a 10cm strip of self-adhesive Velcro onto what will be the reverse side of each foam panel.
Starting with the seat, position the first foam panel, remove the backing tape and stick the panel down. Repeat this with the chair’s backrest.
The Velcro allows you to re-invent the chair with new packaging.
