This year, the Venice Biennale once again features Glasstress – an exhibition that revolutionises the concept of glass, exploring the infinite possibilities of the highly versatile medium.
The show, which runs from 4 June – 27 November, features the work of many prominent international creatives, including that of renowned furniture designer Patricia Urquiola. As part of a breathtaking installation, Urquiola explores the contemporary uses of Murano glass – the famous product of the Venetian island that goes by the same name.
Called “All Ambiq”, the collection features hand-blown vessels with strange, muted forms that echo shapes in nature.
In this video, Azure magazine talks to Urquiola about designer-manufacturer relationships, using All Ambiq as an example. (Can’t view this video in your browser? Watch it on YouTube.)
