The new Usuals

Sharing their design processes, inspirations, successes and failures, Dutch designers Miriam van der Lubbe and Niels van Eijkinvite invite us to watch how their ideas come to life.

Miriam and Niels’ label, called “Usuals”, is shared through video clips, sketches and posts online, allowing followers to vicariously live the life of a designer.

Creating limited-edition and unique pieces that are only available for purchase online, the Usuals kicked off their new line with a preview at Inside Amsterdam and now, they say, “it’s party time”.

We’d most certainly love having their one-of-a-kind Wooden Bowls at our parties. Each of the 39 available bowls is cut from a real wood block resulting in a unique shape. The shapes veer far from your typical bowl shape – and we like it. Grooves and slots cut into the wood make allowance for food to be displayed in a beautifully earthy and highly original way.

The Usuals invite design fans to get involved and get inspired. Check out their Facebook and Twitter pages and watch the “Be inspired” videos on their website.
