Hot design at Ambiente

VISI’s Klara van Wyngaarden caught a glimpse of the latest design trends and products at the Ambiente international trade fair in Frankfurt.

The Black Forest Exhibition, a collaborative project by students from the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and a company called Raumgestalt, was a definite highlight at the must-visit trade fair.

The project involved developing products for the table and kitchen that would be in sharp contrast to what we’d usually expect from these items. Quirky, unconventional designs resulted.

Klara’s favourites (pictured here) included:

– S’ous. Vaiselle Irréversible by Ada Bauer-Weiskopf: Upside-down crockery.

– Faltschalen by Annika Albrecht: Fold-up picnic/camping bowls.

– Wärmflasche by Hanna Antemann: A hot-water bag that keeps bread rolls warm.

– B-Box by Katerina Sonntagova: Ceramic lunch bowls held together with red straps.
