Open Studios Fish Hoek & Clovelly (OSFHC) returns for its second edition this October with a self-guided art trail that offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at how local art is made.

Building on the success of OSFHC’s inaugural event, this year’s festival will see over 30 artists exhibiting across 20 studios between Fish Hoek and Clovelly. The all-access art trail will be divided into three routes – Clovelly Route, Fish Hoek Route and Fish Hoek Mountain – and will include partner venues along the trails.
This year’s newcomers
Chris Bladen: a bronze sculptor whose finely detailed sculptures of fish and birds draw on his own fly-fishing and birdwatching experiences.
Mandy Lake: an oil painter with ocean-inspired abstractions.
Angela Buckland: a photographer with work exhibited at the Iziko National Gallery and Durban Art Gallery, and published in three books.
Nicolene Louw: an illustrator with pen-and-ink work as far afield as Switzerland.
Jasper Wolfeman: a multidisciplinary artist with paintings and sculptural floral arrangements.
Along with their artwork, artists have been challenged to create exciting, eco-friendly wine containers, with the public invited to vote for the best one.
What you need to know
The ticketed opening function for collectors and art lovers will take place at AP Jones, a department store on Fish Hoek Main Road, on Friday, 9 October, from 9am to 4pm – guests will be treated to a bespoke installation and live performance. Part of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Project Flamingo, an organisation that provides care for breast cancer patients within the public healthcare system.
