Joburg-based fabric and wallpaper brand, Fabric Bank, has launched its Falissie Collection in collaboration with British-Ghanaian multi-disciplinary designer Chrissa Amuah.
WORDS Gina Dionisio
Chrissa Amuah, a British-Ghanaian multi-disciplinary designer, curator, editor, and creative consultant, brings a distinctive fusion of global influences and African sensibilities to her work. Her collaboration with Fabric Bank on the new Falissie Collection feels distinctly modern yet deeply rooted in heritage.
“If I’m honest, I’ve sat on the concepts of these designs for some time. I truly loved each of them when I created them, but there hasn’t been the right opportunity to reveal them before now. Collaborating with Fabric Bank feels like the best moment and opportunity to share them with you all,” she says.
The collection features three designs across seven colour ways. Each design tells its own story.
- Kente Etch – features free lines that reflect the patchwork and textured details of Ghanaian woven Kente.
- Mazabubu – the ink-stained lines abstractly depict the female form rising, embracing her strength, vulnerability, and beauty.
- Osram – a contemporary interpretation of the Ghanaian Adinkra symbol represents the moon. When combined with the star, it honours love, faithfulness, and harmony.
The Falissie Collection is a contemporary body of work intended to empower and bring joy, warmth and peace to the interior spaces it occupies. Its cool and neutral colour palette provides enough variety to create both sensible spaces and more dynamic, adventurous environments for bold curators. The collection is available in both wallpaper and fabric options and can be printed to specification.
More Artist Collections
Fabric Bank has a long history of partnering with established and emerging artists, translating their designs into fabrics and wallpapers for a multitude of applications. The brand recently partnered with Anushka Davids, a Cape Town-based textile designer and artist with a background in surface design.
Collaborating locally and internationally with brands such as Halo Dishcovers, Spaza Store, and Jubilee Trading Co., she has specialised in creating art prints for homeware and interiors.
Inspired by nature, African culture, and raw emotion, she creates expressive, layered patterns — merging art and function to craft designs that feel both soulful and practical. At the heart of her work lies a passion for creating pieces that evoke emotion, celebrate African heritage, and bring beauty into everyday spaces. | fabricbank.co.za
